About Ellis

I make quiet, patient photographs of places that change slowly: tidal flats, high valleys, harbours out of season.

I trained as a surveyor before picking up a camera full time, and still work the same way: walk the ground first, come back in different weather, and only photograph once I understand how the light moves across it. Most series take a year or more.

What I take on

• Editorial assignments. Landscape and place-led features, usually two to five days on location.
• Conservation and land projects. Long-term records of sites before, during, and after restoration work.
• Prints. Archival pigment prints of any published frame, in three sizes.
• Licensing. Existing images for books, reports, and exhibitions.
