Index Press is a small independent publication about printed things in use: the paper on the doorstep, the proof on the desk, the stall that sells books by the pound. It is written by a handful of contributors and filed once a week.

How it is made
Each issue collects the week’s stories under a single number. Stories keep their number for good, so a reader can cite “No. 14, story 3” and find it again. Sections are few and do not change often: Newsstand, Proofs, Shelves and Archive.
Notes and sources sit at the foot of each story as numbered footnotes rather than in the running text. Corrections are added as a dated footnote; the original sentence stays visible.
